Have you played… Blair Witch Volume I: Rustin Parr? Have you already played… Sailaway – The Sailing Simulator? Have you played… The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker? Have you played… Bridge Constructor Portal? Have you played… King’s Quest III: To Heir Is Human? Now I’m forced to play survival games where people murder each other while insults are constantly heard. Something like friendship developed between everyone I played with. This may just be thanks to the cute French animation that worked its magic and only attracted nice kids. I also remember that the other players were nice. I don’t know how it holds up in today’s world, but these people must have done something right since they’ve been active with their seal for as long as they have World of Warcraftwhile dozens of other games have fallen by the wayside. There are the character classes, the armor sets, the dungeons, the pets, the mounts, the wallet filled with fake money that never seems to last. It was produced by the French studio Ankama made by a group of animators and designers (the same studio also created the later released MMO Wakfu developed) and is probably as old-fashioned as mummorpuhguhs can be. Maybe it was just the fact that the game was free and ran on any computer, no matter how weak. Maybe it was standing around in the marketplace with bags full of stuff, constantly looking for buyers for the fairly worthless loot. Perhaps it was the grid-based tactical combat that meant fighting was slower and there was more time to think. I don’t know why I started Dofus to play, but there must have been something about this cartoonish isometric MMO that kept me coming back to harvest flax and other crops. Several times a week, all year long, maybe forever. Have you already… played? is an endless stream of game recommendations.
